Delegate Bell's HB 1679 Unanimously Passes in the House of Delegates

Delegate Richard P. “Dickie” Bell (R-Staunton) announced today that House Bill 1679, a bill patroned by Delegate Bell, has passed in the House of Delegates.

House Bill 1679 is a bill that was handed down from the Department of Health and Human Resources, and would authorize the State Executive Council for Comprehensive Services for At-Risk Youth and Families to deny funding to a locality if services are not in compliance with applicable state or federal law.

“I am very pleased to see House Bill 1679 unanimously pass in the House of Delegates.” said Delegate Bell. “This legislation is crucial to ensuring that localities properly use funding designated for services for At-Risk youth.  I’m hopeful that this bill will continue to gain support when it crosses over to the State Senate.”

The bill was first referred to the Health, Welfare, and Institutions committee where it passed unanimously.  It passed the House today with a unanimous vote of 98-0.

Elected to the House of Delegates in 2009, Delegate Bell represents the 20th District, which includes Highland County, portions of Augusta and Rockingham Counties, and the City of Staunton.
