Area state legislators hope a combination of increased revenue and cuts in discretionary state spending will help Virginia with the budget shortfall Gov. Terry McAuliffe unveiled last week.
McAuliffe offered a revised three-year revenue shortfall of nearly $2.4 billion last week, one that will require trimming $346 million during the current fiscal year, and $536 million in fiscal year 2016.
