Bell Sounds from the 20th - September 10, 2015

I hope you had a wonderful summer!  Labor Day not only marks the end of summer, but to many voters and elected officials it also serves as the official kickoff of campaign season.  As you are likely already aware, the entire General Assembly is up for re-election this year.  Though it is hard to believe, we are less than 2 months away from Election Day. I would like to share with you some information about the upcoming election, as well as some ways that you can get involved with my campaign.

If you have never voted or if you have moved since last year’s election, you must register in order to be eligible to vote in the November election. The deadline to register is October 13, 2015

To be eligible to vote in Virginia, you must:

  • Be a resident of Virginia (a person who has come to Virginia for temporary purposes and intends to return to another state is not considered a resident for voting purposes).

  • Be a U. S. Citizen.

  • Be 18 years old (any person who is 17 years old and will be eighteen years of age at the next general election shall be permitted to register in advance and also vote in any intervening primary or special election).

  • Not be registered and plan to vote in another state.

  • Not currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.

  • If convicted of a felony, your right to vote must have been restored.

You can register or verify your registration status online at https://www.vote.virginia.gov/.  You can also register by mail or in person at your local registrar’s office.

For more information on voter registration you can visit  http://elections.virginia.gov/registration/how-to-register/index.html.

Absentee Ballots

If you will be away on Election Day, it is time to start thinking about voting absentee.

You can apply for an absentee ballot by mailing this form to your local voter registration office.  Citizens who qualify for an absentee ballot are also able to vote in person at their local registrar’s office.  The last day to apply by mail is October 27, 2015. The last day to vote in person absentee is October 31, 2015

For more information on absentee voting, including information on who is eligible to cast an absentee ballot, please go to http://elections.virginia.gov/casting-a-ballot/absentee-voting/index.html.

Get Involved in My Campaign

We need volunteers to help with our victory effort!  Volunteers can help in a number of ways, including making phone calls, knocking on doors, distributing yard signs, and working outside the polls.

If you have even an hour to volunteer over the next few weeks, please contact me at Dickie@BellforDelegate.com.   Donations are also graciously accepted at www.bellfordelegate.com/donate or by mail at P.O. Box 239, Staunton, Virginia 24402.

 Republican Headquarters

This year we are fortunate to have three GOP Headquarters locations in our area.  The Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro committees have each opened their own headquarters.

The Waynesboro Headquarters is located in Willow Oak Plaza in Waynesboro. Augusta County has a location on Route 11 in Verona, next to Shipplett Cleaners.  The Staunton City Committee headquarters is located on N Central Avenue in the old Fireplaces and Things building across from Scott and Stringfellow.

Schedules are still being discussed, but we will keep you updated once we know what the hours at each location will be.

Each of these locations can only operate at full capacity with the help of volunteers.  If you are interested in helping out at one of these locations please let us know and we will get you in touch with the appropriate people.
