Area Legislators Concerned About Filling One Judicial Vacancy

The Augusta County Bar Association has endorsed individual candidates for pending circuit and district court vacancies in the 25th Circuit and 25th District, but area state legislators wonder if the district court vacancy will be filled by the General Assembly next year.

On Nov. 15, the Augusta County Bar Association recommended two preferred candidates.



Staunton attorney C.J. Steuart Thomas, III, was recommended by the bar for the circuit court judgeship being vacated by retiring 25th Circuit Judge Humes Franklin at the end of the year.

The Augusta County Bar Association also recommended Staunton attorney Tate Love to replace William Heatwole. Heatwole is retiring from the 25th District at the end of the year.
